Learn to size mats, cut straight and beveled edges, and hinge mount artwork. Bring a 5 x 7 or smaller art piece with you to class. This class is required in order to use our mat cutter on your own. Learn the basics of sewing; choosing fabric, use of commercial patterns, following pattern instructions, operating a sewing machine and sewing seams to sew an apron. Bring a machine to class with you but if you donât have one, 3 are available when pre-registering. Students will learn basic techniques in handbuilding through coiling and slabs. Handbuilding is a way to create functional and non-functional pieces, as well as sculptures, without using the wheel.
